Damate Group, the largest turkey producer in Russia, began to form its own parent herd of turkeys in Rostov region. On September 25, the first batch of one day old poults of 20 thousand heads were brought to the rearing site located in the Ust-Donetsk region. Two more deliveries of young turkeys are planned by the end of the year.

The transportation of poultry heads of parental forms of the BIG-6 cross is carried out in several stages: by air from the UK to the airport in Rostov-on-Don, from where the bird is transferred to cars and delivered to the production site. Here the birds will be redistributed to three specially prepared according to the technology rearing houses.

During the rearing of the herd, a special technology is used to control the target live weight, it is multiphase feeding system for females and males. In addition, Damate specialists regulate the intensity and duration of daylight hours depending on the age of the bird.

Breeder establishment is an important step in turkey production. It is necessary for the production of hatching eggs, which will reduce dependence on imported eggs. In addition, having a herd reduces biological risks.

As a reminder, Damate is implementing a project to restart turkey production facilities in Rostov region. The company has leased from Rosselkhozbank JSC a property complex previously belonged to Eurodon LLC. In August 2020, the first poults were delivered to the rearing houses. The company is currently working on the introduction of production facilities into circulation. Much attention is paid to the issues of biological safety of facilities, which is of particular importance in the restoration of capacities and further production of turkey meat.
