Damate has built a laboratory for product quality and safety control
Damate Group, the largest turkey meat producer in Russia, has built its own veterinary diagnostic laboratory, which is capable of conducting about 1 million tests per year. The facility is located in Nizhnelomov district in close vicinity to the turkey slaughter and processing plant. The company has invested 110 million rubles in the creation of the facility.
Among the main tasks of the laboratory are control over product quality and safety, over the production environment and the raw materials used. On the basis of the data obtained, specialists will be able to monitor and analyze the epizootic situation, respond to deviations in due time, without resorting to the help of third-party organizations.
The joint work of the laboratory, the quality department and the production veterinary and sanitary service Damate will allow to build operational end-to-end monitoring from egg to counter.
On August 17, during a working visit to the region, the Governor of Penza region, Ivan Belozertsev, checked the readiness of the laboratory, noted the high level of work done and the technical capacity of the facility. According to the head of the region, the institution is ready to be opened and work in full.
The technical launch of the facility took place in early April 2020. At present, the laboratory is operating in a test mode, commissioning and equipment adjustment are underway. Officially, the laboratory will begin to conduct research after receiving a sanitary-epidemiological conclusion and a license. Now the procedure for registration of the necessary documents is underway. Experts plan to start conducting full-fledged research in September 2020.
In the arsenal of Damate laboratory there are 113 units of modern high-performance equipment for molecular microbiology, instruments and analyzers with automated sample preparation systems. At the same time, 70% of the installed equipment is represented by leading international companies - manufacturers of laboratory equipment, instruments and components for them. The new equipment allows for more than 300 different types of research.
The laboratory consists of 32 functional rooms that meet international standards. To comply with sanitary standards, the premises are divided into "dirty", "clean", "the cleanest" zones, material and personal flows are completely separated. The route of the laboratory allows working simultaneously with materials of different matrices and opposite biological status (infectious, not infectious), without separating the research in time.
The laboratory staff consists of 12 specialists, including veterinarians, microbiological engineers, laboratory assistants and orderlies. Employees are residents of Penza, Saratov and Tambov regions, the Republic of Mordovia.
Most of the employees have already completed the first training and received a professional certificate. In the near future, all employees will receive additional specialized education and state certificates at specialized state research institutes. In addition, Damate will direct specialists to advanced training courses organized by the leading international manufacturers of equipment, instruments and reagents.
