Damate will build a breeding and genetic center for sheep breeding in the Stavropol Territory

Damate Group has launched a project to create a breeding and genetic center for breeding sheep in the North Caucasus Federal District. The breeding center will create the best gene pool of Russian sheep through the transfer of the latest technologies in the field of genetics, breeding and reproduction; reduce dependence on imports of breeding products.

The project consists of an intensive sheep breeding complex, including two farms for 3,000 sheep, an artificial insemination station, an embryo laboratory and a quarantine site for 300 heads. Investments in the project will amount to 1.1 billion rubles, the financial partner is Russian Agricultural Bank (JSC Rosselkhozbank).

The company has already started the construction of one of the objects of the center – a breeding sheep farm with a capacity of 1800 heads in the Predgorny district of the Stavropol Territory.

The foundation stone ceremony of the new enterprise was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Andrey Razin, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Stavropol Territory Andrey Khlopyanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the KCR Eldar Baychorov, Director of the Department of Socio-Economic Development of the North Caucasus Federal District Igor Khranovsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Damate Naum Babayev, General Director of Damate Rashid Khairov.

"The Damate project for the construction of a sheep breeding and genetic center is of great importance for the Russian sheep industry, because its development directly depends on the quality of genetic material. It provides for the introduction of technologies, the creation of infrastructure and the acquisition of a herd with high genetic indicators. The launch of the enterprise will allow us to build a high-quality and stable Russian breeding base and reduce the dependence of sheep breeding on the import of genetics," said Naum Babayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Damate Group.

The breeding center is designed for the maintenance and breeding of the best breeds of the world sheep breeding. Highly productive purebred animals will be bred here; inventory and evaluation of the level of their productivity and the quality of livestock products will be carried out. The work will be done using the latest technologies in the field of reproduction and automated control systems of breeding work.

Specialists at the farm will constantly monitor the entire production cycle – from insemination to fattening, which will allow achieving production efficiency at the level of the world's leading producers, guarantee consistently high quality of meat, as well as flexibly adjust the production cycle to the needs of the market.

The implementation of the project will create more than 50 jobs in the region.
