When both farms reach their planned capacity (2 million heads per year), the company will increase turkey production by a combined 22,600 tonnes of slaughter weight per year—approximately 5% of Russia's total turkey production*.
Total investment in the project amounted to 6.9 billion rubles, with Rosselkhozbank serving as the financial partner.
Penza Region Governor Oleg Melnichenko, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Roman Nekrasov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of the Penza Region Roman Kalentyev, Director of the Penza Regional Branch of JSC Rosselkhozbank Yuri Osokin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Damate Naum Babayev, and other distinguished guests attended the event marking the launch of the second phase.
"The Penza Region has become the region that produces more than half of all turkey in the country," emphasized Penza Region Governor Oleg Melnichenko. "Damate has established a closed-loop production system here: cultivated areas, elevators, feed production, poultry houses, and processing facilities. Damate products account for 90% of all agricultural exports from the Penza Region. A huge thank you to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Minister Oksana Nikolaevna Lut personally, and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Nikolaevich Patrushev for their support of our agricultural sector!" By 2025, thanks to the Ministry of Agriculture, more than 2.3 billion rubles have been allocated for all forms of support in the Penza Region's agricultural sector. This is a huge amount, thank you for your attention to our region!"
"These two new poultry production units represent almost 7 billion rubles in investment," noted Naum Babayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Damate. "We are pleased to be among the industry leaders, but even more pleased that we are proud of our products and the people who work for us. The regional government has provided us with invaluable assistance in terms of infrastructure development. Damate is a company native to the Penza Region, and turkey is a native product for the region."
A significant amount of work has been completed as part of the project. One unit consists of three poultry production sites, housing 32 poultry houses for growing and fattening turkeys. All Damate poultry houses are built in accordance with biological and sanitary requirements. The buildings are located at a distance from each other to ensure biosecurity standards. Specialized technological equipment has been installed in the poultry houses. All life support processes are automated.
In addition to the poultry buildings, modern infrastructure and utilities have been installed at the sites: a water intake unit, a weighing station, feed storage bins, sanitary checkpoints, and a specialized manure storage facility have been constructed. Gas and electrical installations have been completed at the sites.
Currently, the stocking of rearing and finishing birds is in full swing at the sites.
Thanks to the construction of the new facilities, Damate has created 103 local jobs.
*According to the National Association of Turkey Producers (NAPI), the volume of finished turkey product production in Russia in 2024 was 438,000 tons in slaughter weight; NAPI's industry production forecast for 2025 is approximately 454,000 tons.
